One person dead and another hospitalised following serious RTC on A48

At 10.52am on Friday, July 19th, Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service (MAWWFRS) crews from Tumble, Ammanford and Carmarthen Fire Stations were called to an incident along the A48 east-bound, between Llanddarog and Cross Hands.

Crews responded to a road traffic collision involving three private motor vehicles.  Crews were involved in extricating casualties from vehicles and administering CPR and casualty care.

Sadly, one person has died and another person has been taken to hospital with serious injuries.

This incident required a multi-agency response, with Dyfed-Powys Police and the Ambulance Service also in attendance.  MAWWFRS crews left the scene at 12.15pm.

Dyfed-Powys Police has confirmed that it is anticipated the A48, eastbound and westbound between Cross Hands and Llanddarog are likely to remain closed for some time.  Diversions are being put in place to support the flow of traffic and members of the public are advised to avoid the area if possible.

Road users are advised to avoid the area as it is anticipated that the road will remain closed for some time.  Diversions have been put in place, however high volumes of traffic and delays are anticipated.
