Investigation Underway as Body Discovered near Carmarthen Railway Station

Emergency services responded early on Saturday, January 10, 2026, after the body of a man was found in a field adjacent to Carmarthen railway station and the nearby railway tracks.

Officers from Dyfed-Powys Police, supported by paramedics from the Welsh Ambulance Service, were called to the scene following reports of a concern for welfare close to the station. Multiple police and ambulance vehicles were seen near the station entrance and in the surrounding area as investigators began gathering evidence.

The deceased, whose identity has not been released by authorities, was located in an open area beside the rail corridor. Police confirmed that the man’s next of kin had been informed, but further personal details are being withheld at this stage.

Authorities have classified the incident as an “unexplained death” and launched a formal investigation to determine the circumstances leading to the man’s presence and death near the tracks. Officers are working to establish a clear timeline and are conducting enquiries in the vicinity to collect relevant information.

Appeal for Public Assistance

Dyfed-Powys Police have appealed to the public for assistance, asking anyone who was in the area around the station on the morning of January 10 — or who may have relevant CCTV or dashcam footage from that timeframe — to come forward with information that could aid the investigation.

Although there is currently no indication of suspicious activity, detectives are keeping all options open as they seek to understand what occurred.

Impact on the Station and Local Community

Carmarthen railway station, a key transport link in West Wales, saw a temporary increase in police presence during the initial stages of the investigation. Passenger services experienced minor disruption as officers worked in and around the site.

Transport providers and local officials have not issued detailed operational statements, but normal station activity resumed soon after emergency services concluded their immediate enquiries.

Police continue to stress that there is no wider risk to the public, and urge anyone with information to contact them directly.
