Net Zero: What are the opportunities and challenges for businesses in Mid Wales?

Ceredigion County Council and Powys County Councils continue to collaborate with partners in Mid Wales on a range of strategic matters that help to transform and grow the regional economy. From delivering the Mid Wales Growth Deal and the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and leading on the Skills agenda, the work of Growing Mid Wales continues to grow from strength to strength.

A key area for the residents and businesses of Mid Wales is Energy. Building on the work undertaken with partners to develop a Regional Energy Strategy and work now underway to develop Local Area Energy Action Plans, there is a need to further strengthen the evidence of our needs and opportunities to make the case for further investment.

Growing Mid Wales is currently seeking responses from businesses in Mid Wales to understand the opportunities and challenges they are facing in order to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions and how they can be supported on the journey to net zero.

The survey, which runs until 20th September, will help to:

Inform the development of future funding calls
Develop the evidence base to highlight the need for grid investment in Mid Wales
Inform the development of a future Business Cluster workshop on decarbonisation and energy
Support delivery of Mid Wales Energy Strategy and Energy Action Plan.
Councillor Bryan Davies, Leader of Ceredigion County Council and Councillor James Gibson-Watt, Leader of Powys County Council, jointly said: “We’re encouraging all Mid Wales businesses to get involved with this survey, so that the right support and investment can be made in our region in our journey to Net Zero, a journey which we need to work together to achieve.”
