Craig Gwladus’s heritage conservation work to feature on ITV’s Coast and Country with Ruth Dodsworth

Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council is delighted to announce that Craig Gwladus Country Park in Cilfrew, Neath, will soon feature in an episode of the popular ITV Coast and Country series, hosted by weather presenter Ruth Dodsworth.

This exciting episode will not only highlight the natural beauty of the park but also showcase the dedication of the volunteers who are currently helping to preserve and promote the area’s unique heritage.

The episode, set to air this Friday 21st July at 7pm, will showcase this lesser known local attraction which is a haven for nature lovers and history enthusiasts alike.

With its woodland trails, panoramic views of Neath and its coal-mining heritage, visitors can discover the park’s historical importance which is evidenced through the remains of Cilfrew’s former tinplate works, which serve as a reminder of the area’s industrial past.

It’s hoped the episode will raise awareness about the region’s outstanding natural assets and cultural heritage and showcase the dedication of park volunteers who work tirelessly to maintain and promote this picturesque destination to locals and tourists alike.

Ruth Dodsworth said: “Craig Gwladus Country Park is a magical place and to see the team work and the community spirit that keeps the park thriving is itself truly magic.  It was a pleasure to film there for ITV’s Coast and Country and to see ‘people power’ in action.”

Cllr Jeremy Hurley, Neath Port Talbot Council’s Cabinet Member for Climate Change and Economic Growth, added: “Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council extends its gratitude to the ITV Coast and Country team for their interest in Craig Gwladus Country Park.

“Their collaboration in sharing the park’s story will undoubtedly inspire a wider audience to appreciate the beauty of Neath Port Talbot and encourage more people to explore the region’s remarkable landscapes.”
