18-year-old fined £1.5K for illegal exhaust

The court heard that on 10/05/2023, 18-year-old Glyn Eric Williams of Powys drove a vehicle down Crew Green Road in Shrewsbury that was fitted with an exhaust system which had been altered so as to increase the noise made by the escape of exhaust gases, contrary to regulation 54(2) of the Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations 1986, section 42 of the Road Traffic Act 1988 and Schedule 2 to the Road Traffic Offenders Act 1988.

The defendant pleaded guilty to the charges against him and was fined a total sum of £1,512.00. The defendant’s guilty plea was taken into account when the sentence was imposed.
