Llanelli Town Council has approved the publication of recordings of its Full Council meetings online, delivering on a key commitment made by the Independent-led Administration in its Confidence and Supply Agreement.
At the meeting of the Full Council held on Wednesday, 1 July 2026, Members approved new arrangements that will allow residents to watch recordings of Council meetings through the Town Council’s YouTube channel, with links also being published on the Council’s website alongside the draft minutes.
The decision follows a motion brought forward earlier this year by Deputy Leader Councillor Michael Cranham and Councillor Louvain Roberts, which called for Town Council meeting recordings to be made publicly available to improve transparency and accessibility.
During the meeting, Members also expressed thanks to Councillor Lillith Fenris and Town Council officers for their work in developing the arrangements and helping to bring the proposal to fruition. Their efforts in identifying a practical, compliant, and cost-effective solution were acknowledged by the Council.
Leader of the Council, Councillor Sean Rees, said:
“Improving openness and transparency was one of the commitments set out by our Independent-led Administration in our Confidence and Supply Agreement. We made that commitment to residents, and I am delighted that we have now delivered on it.
“The publication of recordings of Council meetings is a long overdue step that will make it easier for residents to see how decisions are made and engage with the work of their Town Council. I am also pleased that this has been achieved using existing Council resources, with no additional cost to the taxpayer.”
