Llanelli appoints new Town Mayor for 2025-26

Cllr Andrew R. Bragoli (Labour), a lifelong resident of the Lliedi ward, has been installed as Llanelli’s 51st Town Mayor, succeeding Cllr John G. Prosser for the 2025–26 civic year. His deputy, Cllr Sarah Evans, also of Lliedi, assumes the role of Deputy Mayor .

Professional and civic background
Mr Bragoli recently retired after over 40 years at Tata’s Trostre tinplate works, where he served more than 20 years as a senior union representative for the 600‑strong workforce. He was first elected to Llanelli Town Council in May 2022.

Known affectionately as “Brags” by colleagues, he is also a governor at Ysgol Penygaer and a trustee of Llanelli MIND.

Mayoral priorities & chosen charities
Cllr Bragoli expressed his desire “to give something back to the town, as well as keeping active, and supporting the many organisations and charities doing such wonderful work here.” He has selected two local charities for his mayoral year:

  1. Llanelli Warriors – a mixed‑ability rugby club that integrates players with disabilities into full-contact rugby, including their Merched Cymru women’s side, which recently won the Silver medal at the Mixed Ability Rugby World Cup in Spain.

  2. LLAMA (Llanelli Autism Mams Association) – a local support group for families and carers of neurodiverse children. “They are not a fashionable charity but… the children need help,” he said .

A keen Scarlets fan and collector of rugby “Groggs,” Cllr Bragoli noted:

“Both the men and the women at the Llanelli Warriors represent everything rugby should be about: fun, community, and inclusion.”

Deputy Mayor’s profile
Cllr Sarah Evans, Welsh‑speaking deputy Mayor, also represents Lliedi ward and works as a trade union representative at DVLA Swansea. Her consort is her husband, David.
