This funding means an extra 100km of Welsh roads will be resurfaced in the new financial year, fixing thousands of existing potholes.
After receiving the largest financial settlement from the UK Government since the dawn of devolution, your two Labour Governments are working together in partnership to deliver for the people of Wales.
The Conservatives posture as the friend of motorists, and Plaid Cymru refuse to even talk about their plans for Wales’ roads, yet both plan to vote against this crucial money to fix our roads.
Your Welsh Labour Government has already spent more than £81 million since 2021 on resurfacing roads, and with the forecasted spending, this will increase to £118 million by 2026.
Connecting communities was a key priority identified during First Minister Eluned Morgan’s summer listening tour. She listened to people telling her that the roads needed to be improved, and now she’s delivering for the people of Wales.
Cabinet Secretary for Transport Ken Skates MS said:
“The people of Wales have told us again and again that they want us to fix our roads, and so I’m delighted to announce today more funding to prevent 30,000 potholes and fix thousands more of existing ones.
“This is only possible because of the substantial funding settlement from the UK Government, and because of the refocusing by Eluned Morgan towards the priorities of the people of Wales.
“The Conservatives pretend to be on the side of the motorists. Plaid Cymru are mysteriously quiet on the issue, hoping you won’t notice. If they believe in connecting communities, like this Welsh Labour Government does, they’ll vote for £25 million for potholes in the Budget.”
