Cross Hands and Tumble Surgery resign GMS contracts

HYWEL Dda University Health Board (UHB) is working with the Cross Hands and Tumble Surgery in Carmarthenshire to ensure the continued provision of GP services in the area following the resignation of their General Medical Services (GMS) contract.

The decision to resign their contract with the health board at the end of March 2024 was made by the partners following unsuccessful attempts to recruit an additional GP or Advanced Practitioner to join the busy practice.

Jill Paterson, Director of Primary Care, Community and Long Term Care for Hywel Dda UHB, said: “The health board would like to reassure the patients of Cross Hands and Tumble Surgery that the provision of these important services will continue for patients.

“We understand that patients may be worried at this time, but we will now work with the practice team, the Amman and Gwendraeth cluster and local stakeholders to develop plans for delivery of future services in the area.

“The health board appreciates the continuing support given by the community to the team at Cross Hands and Tumble Surgery throughout this challenging period.”

For registered patients this means that care will continue to be provided as normal by the same team in the practice until the end of March 2024. Patients should remain registered with the surgery while longer-term plans are developed.

The health board will be writing to all patients registered at Cross Hands and Tumble Surgery to inform them of the situation. Patients and stakeholders will be invited to share their views on how these services can continue to be delivered.
