THE Dyfed Powys Police and Crime Panel will be seeking answers to a number of questions put forward to the Police and Crime Commissioner during the Panel’s next meeting at County Hall, Carmarthen, at 10.30am on Friday, 19 May.
Amongst the questions placed on the agenda for the Dyfed Powys Police and Crime Commissioner, Dafydd Llewelyn, will be how the police are addressing the health and well-being of police officers and the early departure of experienced staff, which can often have a detrimental impact on the efficiency and effectiveness of a police force.
The Commissioner is also expected to be asked what lessons Dyfed Powys Police can learn from the Baroness Casey report, which has raised serious concerns surrounding the culture and behaviour of the Metropolitan Police.
Rural crime is an area that Dyfed Powys Police is recognised to have made significant progress on in recent years, and the Police and Crime Panel will seek reassurances from the Commissioner that this momentum is maintained.
The Commissioner will also be asked what steps he is taking to ensure that the police force is maintaining an efficient and fit for purpose Firearms Licensing regime for Dyfed-Powys.

The Dyfed Powys Police and Crime Panel will meet at County Hall, Carmarthen, at 10.30am on Friday, 19 May 2023.
Dyfed Powys Police and Crime Panel scrutinises and supports the work of the Police and Crime Commissioner. The Panel is made up of members nominated by the four councils in the force area: Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and Powys; and at least two independent members. Carmarthenshire County Council is the lead authority for the Panel.
