Increased concerns for welfare of Joshua Shaw

Officers searching for Joshua Shaw are appealing for the public to come forward with any information, no matter how insignificant they may think it is.

Joshua, 23, was last seen by police officers when he entered the river Taff around 6.05pm on Wednesday December 27.

When last seen he was wearing a grey hoodie, dark coloured bottoms, and white trainers.

Chief Inspector Matt Rowlands, of South Wales Police, said: “It is now a week since Josh was last seen and we have been carrying out extensive searches of the river between Pontypridd and Cardiff Bay.

“Specialist officers continue to undertake searches in numerous locations, assisted by drones, police helicopter, the dog unit, and our search and rescue unit as well as HM Coastguard and South Wales Fire and Rescue Service.

“I am appealing to any members of the public who may have seen Josh since he entered the river Taff last Wednesday evening to contact us.

“We are actively searching for Josh, and we will follow up all leads of sightings when they are reported to us.

“We will continue to keep Josh’s family fully updated on our search at what is understandable a very distressing time for them.

“We area ware of members of the public who wish to help search for Josh. Given the exceptionally high level of the Taff at this time and the volume of water coming down the river is extremely dangerous.

“We advise people to keep away from the river banks which can be very slippery and hazardous and no-one should enter the water after the recent bad weather.”
