Only Boys Aloud Academi to Sing for the King at Coronation Concert

The Aloud Charity is delighted to announce that members of their Only Boys Aloud Academi have been chosen to perform as part of the celebrations surrounding the Coronation of His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Queen Consort.

This once in a generation opportunity will see members of the Only Boys Aloud Academi perform as part of a 300 strong Coronation Choir who will sing at the Coronation Concert in Windsor Castle on Sunday 7th May. Over 20,000 members of the public will be in attendance in addition to the millions of viewers who will be watching the broadcast around the world.

The Aloud Charity CEO Carys Wynne-Morgan said: “We are thrilled to have been selected to sing at the Coronation Concert. It’s such an important moment in history and another opportunity for us to provide our young people with an experience they’ll never forget. This will undoubtedly support us in our mission to transform lives together through the power of song. We send our Only Boys Academi members and all the other performers very best wishes in their preparations and for the day itself, and look forward to seeing them on stage on the 7th”

Only Boys Aloud Academi member Joe Tucker said: “I’m really looking forward to the once in a lifetime opportunity to be able to sing in front of the King! It will be a great experience to share with my friends on stage and something we’ll never forget”

In the lead up to this historic event, Only Boys Aloud Academi members will have the opportunity to work alongside celebrity mentors Gareth Malone, Motsi Mabuse, Amanda Holden, and Rose Ayling-Ellis who will help them to prepare for their special performance for their Majesties.

Only Boys Aloud Academi members will also feature in a new documentary Sing for the King: The Search for the Coronation Choir following their journey to the Coronation Concert which will air on Friday 5th May on BBC1 at 8pm.

The Only Boys Aloud Academi provides opportunities for teenage boys who are involved in The Aloud Charity’s Only Boys Aloud choir programme to participate in intensive training, masterclasses, and residential opportunities to develop their singing and performance skills. Young people aged 16-19 from communities across Wales participate in high-quality training and perform at high-profile public performances which develop their aspirations for the future and provides inspiration for those interested in a future in the performing arts.

Out of over a thousand applicants The Aloud Charity is delighted that members of our Only Boys Aloud Academi will be joining forces with choirs from across the UK (including Caerphilly Male Voice choir and Oasis Refugee Choir) for this historic event.
