Police investigate circumstances following death of a child at Cardigan property

The emergency services were seen passing through villages North of Carmarthenshire at high speed. The vehicles included paramedics, the fire service with boat, HM Coastguard the Ambulance Service and the police.

Posts on social media referred to an explosion in the Newcastle Emlyn area however police confirmed that this was not the case.

In a statement Dyfed-Powys Police said:

“Dyfed-Powys Police is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a child at a property in the Cardigan area on Thursday evening, 18th May 2023.

“The death is not being treated as suspicious.

“Our thoughts are with the family who are receiving support.

“HM Coroner has been informed.”
