‘Apply for Winter Fuel Payment’ urges Llanelli’s MS

THE Member of the Senedd for Llanelli, Lee Waters MS, is concerned that only around half of all eligible households have applied for the Welsh Government’s £200 Winter fuel support scheme.

The Welsh Government has announced measures to help people with the cost-of-living crisis. These measures include a £150 cost-of-living payment and an extra £200 for low-income households through the Winter Fuel Payment.

However, many eligible households have not applied for the Winter Fuel Payment.  The deadline for applications is the 28th of February 2022. CRM Forms: You have not entered a style in your form shortcode

The Winter Fuel Support Scheme enables households to claim a one-off payment of £200 to provide support towards paying winter fuel bills. Its extension will mean the scheme can run next winter and can also reach more households.</p>

“The funding package being offered in Wales is significantly larger than the equivalent support provided by the UK Government in England. I would encourage everyone to check the eligibility criteria to see if they can receive support.”

“While the Conservatives stand back and watch people struggle to pay their bills, the Welsh Government is stepping in and doing everything they can,&nbsp;within&nbsp;their&nbsp;powers and budget,&nbsp;to support families through this challenging time.”

Lee Waters added:
“In 2022-23 more than £100m will be provided to strengthen other schemes that help people meet the rising costs of living. More money will be provided through the Discretionary Assistance Fund and through the Winter Fuel Support Scheme.”

“We are doing everything we can to support those in our local communities who are being hit hardest by this rising cost in living crisis.”
