Police appeal for witnesses to RTC in Newport

SOUTH Wales Police have issued the following statement in relation to a traffic collision in Newport on Friday:

“We received a report of a road traffic collision on Stow Park Crescent, at around 12.50pm on Friday 19 January.

“Officers attended, along with personnel from the Welsh Ambulance Service and the Air Ambulance Service.

“The collision involved one car – a silver Hyundai i20 – and a pedestrian.

“The driver and pedestrian were taken to hospital for treatment. The pedestrian, an 83-year-old man from Newport, later died in hospital.

“His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.”

Officers investigating the collision want to speak to any residents, pedestrians or motorists who were in the area at the time of the collision.
