Anglesey man jailed for domestic violence

A 33-year-old man has been jailed for domestic violence offences.

Joshua Alexander Hughes, of Dwyran, Anglesey, appeared at Caernarfon Crown Court yesterdfay Tuesday October 17th, after pleading guilty to controlling and coercive behaviour and intentional strangulation offences.

Between April 2021 and February 2023, Hughes engaged in controlling and coercive behaviour towards the victim. On several occasions, he also caused physical harm towards her.

He was jailed for four years and was made the subject of a restraining order.

Detective Constable Cara Williams said: “Domestic abuse can take many forms and can have a profound and lasting effect on an individual.

“I commend the bravery of the victim in this case who has been courageous throughout the investigations which have led to today’s result.

“I would encourage anyone experiences incident of domestic related abuse to report their concerns to us with the knowledge that we will take their report seriously, we will work with partners to support you through the investigations.”
