‘Thank you Ceredigion for keeping our county clean’

IT’S been another great summer in Ceredigion, with local people and visitors alike enjoying everything that the county has to offer. One of Ceredigion’s best assets is the local environment which is very much valued and respected by most.

Councillor Keith Henson is the Cabinet Member responsible for Highways and Environmental Services and Carbon Management. He said: “We’d really like to thank everyone for working with us in the spirit of Caru Ceredigion. This extends from people dealing with their domestic and trade waste legally and responsibly through to cleaning up after their dogs, using litter bins where available or taking their litter home with them. We’ve also increasingly seen more people getting involved in litter picking within their communities which is great and I’d like to extend a big and sincere thank you to them. By being part of the solution, the problem becomes less. Long may your support for keeping Ceredigion a safe and clean environment for residents and visitors continue.”

New operational arrangements were put in place for summer 2023 which have had a positive influence. Councillor Keith Henson added: “We are always reviewing our approach to delivering our services with a view of making the very best of the resources available. We take into account experience and what has worked well and not so well. One example of where this has worked has been the removal of the bins located on the beach in New Quay with alternative nearby provision being made which could be more easily, safely and often serviced.

“We appreciate that keeping Ceredigion clean and looking its best, as well as retaining and promoting the positive profile it deserves as a fantastic place to live and visit, is truly a team effort – thank you Ceredigion. It’s been great to thank the Environmental Operatives personally on the great work they do in keeping our towns clean, nothing is too much effort for them – Thank you.”

We’ve received many compliments for the work undertaken by our dedicated Environmental Teams who provide street cleaning and waste collection services throughout the year. Our core teams are supplemented during the summer months by seasonal staff to help with the increased footfall in our towns and seaside resorts. They are very grateful for the support and appreciation shown.
