Local community comes together to support gardens Appeal

THE local community is coming together to support the Prince Philip Hospital Gardens Appeal.

Businesses, clubs and organisations across the Felinfoel and Dafen areas in Llanelli are joining in the effort to raise £100,000 to create new therapeutic gardens for older patients in Prince Philip Hospital.

The Phil Bennett, The Royal Oak Felinfoel, The Foel, Dafen Chemist, Dafen Stores and Post Office, Owens Petrol Station and the Prince Philip Hospital shop have all recently shown their support by kindly displaying collection boxes.

Darren Cross, Manager at The Phil Bennett, said “All of us at the Phil Bennett are passionate about supporting local causes. We think the Prince Philip Gardens Appeal is a wonderful cause that everyone in Llanelli should get behind.”

Local rugby club, Felinfoel RFC, is also getting onboard with the fundraising.

There will be an upcoming collection for the Appeal at the Felinfoel Rugby Club during the highly anticipated Felinfoel RFC v Llanelli Wanderers game in March.

Mark Sayers, Treasurer of Felinfoel RFC, said “On behalf of Felinfoel RFC, we are delighted as a local rugby club to be supporting the Prince Philip Hospital Gardens Appeal by having a bucket collection at the Felinfoel v Llanelli Wanderers rugby match on Saturday 9th March with a 2:30pm kick off.

“Hopefully the spectators will be generous and support our local hospital.”

Businesses interested in supporting the Appeal or displaying one of the collections boxes can call Claire Rumble, Fundraising Officer, on 01267 239815 or email fundraising.hyweldda@wales.nhs.uk.
