Rhedwyr yn codi dros £3,000 i Uned Gofal Cardiaidd

Rhedodd Sam Faulkner a Gavin Gilman y Great North Run ym mis Medi gan godi £3,730 ar gyfer yr Uned Gofal Cardiaidd (CCU) yn Ysbyty Llwynhelyg.

Cododd y pâr yr arian er cof am dad Sam a fu farw yn anffodus yn dilyn dau drawiad ar y galon ym mis Gorffennaf.

Dywedodd Sam: “Roedd staff y ward mor wych ac amyneddgar gyda fy Nhad a oedd yn bryderus iawn am fod yn yr ysbyty. Roedden nhw’n wych gyda ni fel teulu yn ystod ei arhosiad yn CCU ac wrth drin y brofedigaeth ar ôl iddo farw.”

Dywedodd Gavin: “Roedd The Great North Run yn hynod heriol ac emosiynol. Roedd y diwrnod yn anodd ond roedd gwybod ein bod ni’n rhedeg ar gyfer Elusennau Iechyd Hywel Dda yn ein helpu ni.

“Roedd y tywydd ar y diwrnod yn dda, tan y diwedd, ac roedd yn teimlo fel bod Newcastle i gyd allan yn ein cefnogi.

“Rydym yn falch o fod wedi codi cymaint ar gyfer yr Uned Gofal Cardiaidd yn Ysbyty Llwynhelyg. Mae’n arwydd bach o’n gwerthfawrogiad am y gofal rhagorol a roddwyd i Dad Sam yn ystod ei ddyddiau olaf. Mae wedi ein hysbrydoli i wneud mwy o waith codi arian i’r elusen yn y dyfodol.”

Dywedodd Nicola Llewelyn, Pennaeth Elusennau Iechyd Hywel Dda, elusen swyddogol Bwrdd Iechyd Prifysgol Hywel Dda: “Hoffem ddiolch yn fawr iawn i Sam a Gavin am eu gwaith codi arian anhygoel.

“Mae cefnogaeth ein cymunedau lleol yn ein galluogi i ddarparu gwasanaethau y tu hwnt i’r hyn y gall y GIG ei ddarparu yn nhair sir Hywel Dda ac rydym yn hynod ddiolchgar am bob rhodd a dderbyniwn.”

Runners raise over £3,000 for Cardiac Care Unit

Sam Faulkner and Gavin Gilman ran the Great North Run in September and raised £3,730 for the Cardiac Care Unit (CCU) at Withybush Hospital.

The pair raised the funds in memory of Sam’s Dad who sadly passed away following two heart attacks in July.

Sam said: “The ward staff were so great and patient with my Dad who was very anxious about being in hospital. They were fabulous with us as a family both during his stay in CCU and in handling the bereavement after he passed away.”

Gavin said: “The Great North Run was super challenging and emotional. The day was tough but knowing we were running for Hywel Dda Health Charities got us through.

“The weather on the day was good, until the end, and it felt like all of Newcastle were out cheering us on.

“We feel proud to have raised so much for the Cardiac Care Unit at Withybush Hospital. It is a small token of our appreciation for the excellent care they gave Sam’s Dad during his final few days. It has inspired us to do more fundraising for the charity in future.”

Nicola Llewelyn, Head of Hywel Dda Health Charities, the official charity of Hywel Dda University Health Board, said: “We would like to say a huge thank you to Sam and Gavin for their incredible fundraising.

“The support of our local communities enables us to provide services over and above what the NHS can provide in the three counties of Hywel Dda and we are extremely grateful for every donation we receive.”
