Communities event to be hosted at Cynheidre

The Llanelli and Mynydd Mawr Railway are delighted to be hosting a ‘Communities Together’ event at Cynheidre on Sunday 21st May 2023 from 10am to 3pm. The aim of the day is to raise awareness of local groups and activities that bring people together to improve quality of life, foster well-being and reduce loneliness. The railway will also be offering short train rides with their Military Railcar. All fundraising on the day will be restricted to not for profit organisations.

There will be demonstrations, talks and activities throughout the day including:

Re-enactment from danger UXB transporting visitors back in time to 1940 and aims to answer the questions about the home front, the ARP, why the railways in Llanelli were bombed, what bombs were dropped and what could be done about it

Scouts toasting marshmallows

Carmarthenshire County Council Outdoor Recreation Service Conservation Team display highlighting the areas beaches and parks

Guide Dogs for the Blind activities and owners

Gwendraeth Valley Rotary Club

Railcar trips and tours of the railways rolling stock and nature area
