Llanelli MS Lee Waters must apologise for remarks about RCN members says Leader of Welsh Lib Dems

Responding to a recording obtained by a local news outlet, where Deputy Minister Lee Waters describes RCN members as militant, Welsh Liberal Democrat Leader Jane Dodds MS said:

“Nurses have been through a horrific time in the pandemic and are now struggling to make ends meet during a cost-of-living crisis and unprecedented demands on the NHS.

“Many have been forced to resort to using food banks.

“Calling them “militant” for merely wanting a pay increase in line with inflation is not acceptable from a Welsh Government Minister and nurses across Wales deserve an apology.”

Plaid Cymru have called the comments “insulting.”

Lee Waters, the Welsh government and the RCN have declined to comment.
