Llanelli poet raises money for Chemotherapy Unit

MARGARET, a retired shorthand typist for Llanelli Borough Council and the Welsh Water Board, has been writing the poems since 1985.

Margaret said: “I’m delighted to have my book published. Having become more immobile recently, I have had more time on my hands and wanted to become more productive.

“I joined the Llanelli Writers Circle, which encouraged me to write these poems. The book, which is titled Memories, is about my life experiences, some humorous and some dealing with grief. It’s a very interesting read and will make a great Christmas present.

“I hope to raise as much money as possible for the Chemotherapy Day Unit at Prince Philip Hospital as this unit is very close to my heart having close family members receiving treatment.”

Claire Rumble, Fundraising Officer for Hywel Dda Health Charities, the official charity of Hywel Dda University Health Board, said: “We’d like to say a very special thank you to Margaret for deciding to donate proceeds of her book to the Chemotherapy Day Unit at Prince Philip Hospital.

“The support of our local communities enables us to provide services over and above what the NHS can normally provide and we are extremely grateful for every donation we receive.”

Memories can be purchased for £12 from Jelfs Health and Herbal Stores which is located at 19 Market Precinct in Llanelli.
