A former Ex-Labour MP has been charged with sexual assault on a woman who was travelling by train.

82-year-old Gwynoro Jones, is accused of sexually touching a woman on a train last year and will stand trial for sexual assault.

Swansea Crown Court heard that Jones of West Street Gorseinon allegedly touched a woman without consent on a train on 11 June 2024 and the incident was recorded on CCTV.

Gwynoro Jones was MP for Carmarthen between 1970 and 1974. He has since worked in the media and as an author of books about his political career.

Mr Jones pleaded not guilty, speaking in the dock only to confirm his name, and is expected to stand the two-day trial on 10 November. He was released on unconditional bail.
