Nia Griffith MP interviews the Shadow Foreign Secretary

LLANELLI’S MP Nia Griffith interviewed the Shadow Foreign Secretary Emily Thornberry earlier this month ahead of her visit to Llanelli for International Women’s Day on 10th March.

In a wide-ranging interview, they discussed progress on gender equality in the last century, women in modern politics and the impact of Brexit on towns like Llanelli.

The interview took place on 6th February – the centenary of the Representation of the People Act 1918 that gave some women the right to vote for the first time.

They met after a Shadow Cabinet meeting in the Museum of London, which is hosting an exhibition on ‘100 years of votes for women’ that celebrates the achievements of the Suffragettes.
