A POLICE officer was dismissed for conduct amounting to gross misconduct after it was found as proven at an accelerated hearing.
The public hearing, held on Monday 23 October, found Nathan Collings had breached standards of professional behaviour on two occasions, namely standard two – authority, respect and courtesy – and standard nine – discreditable conduct.
The allegations against the officer occurred between 2021 and 2023.
Chief Constable Pam Kelly, who chaired the panel, said:
“I am shocked and appalled at the behaviour of Nathan Collings, which contradicts the high standards we expect of all our staff – whether on or off-duty.
“I’d like to thank the victims, who bravely came forward to report this behaviour.
“We recognise the significant impact that these types of crimes have on victims and urge anyone who believes they are a victim of these crimes to come forward safe in the knowledge that they will be taken seriously and treated with compassion and respect.
“Our communities deserve the very best from those serving them and they deserve the highest of standards.
“Individuals like Collings let their colleagues and communities down by not upholding our high standards of behaviour that the service and public expects from police officers.”
The former officer did not attend the accelerated hearing in person and he will be placed on the College of Policing’s barred list in due course.
