Ammanford man fined for assaulting emergency worker

Luke Mark Anthony Smith (29) of Wind Street Ammanford appeared before Llanelli Magistrates’ Court on Friday (Jul 22) charged with assaulting an emergency worker.

The court heard that on 21/07 at Ammanford Smith  assaulted PC88 Herbert, an emergency worker,
acting in the exercise of his functions as such a worker, by beating him. Contrary to section 39 of the Criminal Justice Act 1988 and section 1 of the Assaults on Emergency Workers (Offences) Act 2018.

Smith pleaded guilty to the charge.

Smith was made subject of a community order and is required to have Mental Health Treatment. He must also carry out unpaid work for 200 hours within the next twelve months.

Smith was ordered to pay compensation of £50.00 and to pay costs of £85.00 to the Crown Prosecution Service.
