The following people appeared before Llanelli Magistrates’ Court on September 22nd, 2022.

57-year-old Nigel Black of River Way, Ammanford

The court heard an application for a domestic violence protection order.

A domestic violence protection notice was served by a Constable on 20/09/2022. In accordance with section 27 Crime and Security Act 2010. Black was ordered to pay costs of £226.00 to Dyfed Powys Police.

57-year-old Mr David Wyn Jones of Cwmcatty, Porthyrhyd

The court heard that on 16/09/2022 at Carmarthen Jones had on him, without good reason or lawful authority, in a public place namely Spillman Street an article which had a blade or was sharply pointed, namely a knife which had a blade the cutting edge of which exceeded 7.62 centimetres (3 inches).Contrary to section 139(1) and (6) of the Criminal Justice Act 1988.

Jones was remanded in custody until 06/10/2022 when he will appear before the court again.

21-year-old Mr Cameron Lee Lake of Maesydderwen, Llangennech

The court heard that on 16/09/2022 at Iscoed Road without lawful excuse,damaged a window of unknown value belonging to Gareth Rees intending to destroy or damage such property or being reckless as to whether such property would be destroyed or damaged Contrary to sections 1(1) and 4 of the Criminal Damage Act 1971.

Lake was committed to prison for 4 weeks concurrent suspended for 12 months. He must carry out unpaid work for 150 hours within the next twelve months. Lake was ordered to pay compensation of £200 and to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £154 and costs of £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

Lake was also charged with damaging a police cell causing damage of an unconfirmed value belonging to Dyfed Powys Police intending to destroy or damage such property or being reckless as to whether such property would be destroyed or damaged. He received a 4 weeks prison sentence concurrent suspended for 12 months

Further the court heard that on 17/09/2022 at Ammanford Custody without lawful excuse, Lake damaged an anti-harm suit of unconfirmed value belonging to Dyfed Powys Police intending to destroy or damage such property or being reckless as to whether such property would be destroyed or damaged. Lake received a 4 week prison sentence concurrent suspended for 12 months.

Lake faced another charge of assault. The court heard that on17/09/2022 at Iscoed Road Lake assaulted an emergency worker, a Police Constable, acting in the exercise of his functions as such a worker by beating him Contrary to section 39 of the Criminal Justice Act 1988 and section 1 of the Assaults on Emergency Workers (Offences) Act 2018.

Lake was Committed to prison for 12 weeks concurrent suspended for 12 months. He was also ordered to pay compensation of £200.

Lastly, the court heard that on 17/09/2022 at Ammanford Custody Lake assaulted, an emergency worker, namely a Police Custody Sergeant, acting in the exercise of his functions as such a worker by beating him Contrary to section 39 of the Criminal Justice Act 1988 and section 1 of the Assaults on Emergency Workers (Offences) Act 2018.

Lake was committed to prison for 12 weeks suspended for 12 months. He was also ordered to pay compensation of £250.

31-year-old Saeed Ghane of Lichfield Grove, London

The court hear an application for a domestic violence protection order. A domestic violence protection notice was served by a Constable on 18/09/2022. In accordance with section 27 Crime and Security Act 2010.

Ghane was ordered to pay costs of £226.00 to Dyfed Powys Police.

Mr Lauren Barlow of Cawdor Close, Haverfordwest

The court heard that on 19/03/2022 at Carmarthenshire Barlow drove a motor vehicle, on a dual carriageway road, namely A48 Pensarn, Carmarthen, Carmarthenshire, at a speed exceeding 70 miles per hour Contrary to article 2(c) of the 70 Miles Per Hour, 60 Miles Per Hour and 50 Miles Per Hour (Temporary Speed Limit) Order 1977, section 89(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and Schedule 2 to the Road Traffic Offenders Act 1988.

The speed recorded by means of Laser was 79 mph. The offence was withdrawn.

The court heard that on 22/04/2022 at Safety Camera Unit,Pontypridd, the defendant having been required by or on behalf of the Chief Officer of Police for Dyfed-Powys Police, Barlow failed to give information relating to the identification of the driver of a vehicle, who was alleged to have been guilty of an offence.

The case was proved using a Single Justice Procedure. Barlow was fined £660.00 and ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £66.00 and costs of £90.00. His driving record was endorsed with 6 points.

42-year-old Mr Kristian Bell-Thomas of Severn Close, Risca

The court heard that on 19/03/2022 at Carmarthenshire Thomas drove a motor vehicle, on a dual carriageway road, namely the Overpass A48 near Pensarn, at a speed exceeding 70 miles per hour Contrary to article 2(c) of the 70 Miles Per Hour, 60 Miles Per Hour and 50 Miles Per Hour (Temporary Speed Limit) Order 1977, section 89(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and Schedule 2 to the Road Traffic Offenders Act 1988. The speed recorded by means of Laser was 91 mph. The case was proved using a Single Justice Procedure – 22/09/2022

Thomas was fined £138.00 and ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £34.00 and costs of £90.00. His driving record was endorsed with 4 points.

50-year-old Jane Marie Brown, Tyn y Coed, Waterloo Road

The court heard that on 19/03/2022 at Carmarthenshire Brown drove a motor vehicle, on a restricted road, namely Black Lion Road, Gorslas, Llanelli, Carmarthenshire, at a speed exceeding 30 miles per hour Contrary to sections 81(1) and 89(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and Schedule 2 to the Road Traffic Offenders Act 1988. The speed recorded by means of Laser was 35 miles per hour. The speed limit was signified by street lighting placed at less than 200 yard intervals. The case was proved using a Single Justice Procedure.

Brown was fined £66.00 and ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £34.00. Her driving record was endorsed with 3 points.

26-year-old Mr Thomas Burridge of Main Road, Bryncoch, Neath

21-year-old Miss Jasmine Carey of Orchard Close, Churchstoke, Montgomery

The court heard that on 05/04/2022 at Powys Carey used on a road, namely A489 Kerry Road, Newtown Powys, a motor vehicle, to which section 47 of the Road Traffic Act 1988 applied and as respects which no test certificate had been issued within the appropriate period Contrary to section 47(1) of the Road Traffic Act 1988 and Schedule 2 to the Road Traffic Offenders Act 1988.

The case was proved using a Single Justice Procedure.

Carey was fined £220.00 and ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £34.00 and costs of £90.00.

42-year-old Mr Gareth Chilvers of Dan Danino Way, Morriston

The court heard that on 19/03/2022 at Carmarthenshire drove a motor vehicle, on a dual carriageway road, namely the Overpass A48 near Pensarn, at a speed exceeding 70 miles per hour Contrary to article 2(c) of the 70 Miles Per Hour, 60 Miles Per Hour and 50 Miles Per Hour (Temporary Speed Limit) Order 1977, section 89(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and Schedule 2 to the Road Traffic Offenders Act 1988. 22-year-old Mr Declan Cole of Clifton Villa, Clynderwen

The court heard that on 22/03/2022 at Pembrokeshire Cole used on a road, namely the A4075 Bluestone, Narberth Pembrokeshire, a motor vehicle, to which section 47 of the Road Traffic Act 1988 applied and as respects which no test certificate had been issued within the appropriate period Contrary to section 47(1) of the Road Traffic Act 1988 and Schedule 2 to the Road Traffic Offenders Act 1988.

Further, on 22/03/2022 at Pembrokeshire Cole drove a motor vehicle, on a road, namely the A4075. A4075 Bluestone, Narberth Pembrokeshire,, when he was using a hand-held mobile telephone Contrary to regulation 110(1) of the Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations 1986, section 41D of the Road Traffic Act 1988 and Schedule 2 to the Road Traffic Offenders Act 1988.

Cole pleaded guilty and was fined £40 and ordered to pay 40.00 a surcharge to fund victim services of £34.00 and costs of £90.00. His driving record was endorsed with 6 points.

64-year-old Mr David Edward Davies of Plymouth Gardens, Pentrebach

The court heard that on 19/03/2022 at Carmarthenshire Davies drove a motor vehicle, on a dual carriageway road, namely the A48 Pensarn, Carmarthen, Carmarthenshire, at a speed exceeding 70 miles per hour Contrary to article 2(c) of the 70 Miles Per Hour, 60 Miles Per Hour and 50 Miles Per Hour (Temporary Speed Limit) Order 1977, section 89(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and Schedule 2 to the Road Traffic Offenders Act 1988. The speed recorded by means of Laser was 82 mph.

65-year-old Mr Kelvin George Davies of Swansea Road, Llanelli

The court heard that on 19/03/2022 at Carmarthenshire Davies drove a motor vehicle, on a restricted road, namely Hendre Road, Llangennech (Northbound), at a speed exceeding 30 miles per hour Contrary to section 81(1) and 89(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and Schedule 2 to the Road Traffic Offenders Act 1988. The speed recorded by means of Gatsometer was 35 miles per hour.The speed limit was signified by street lighting placed at less than 200 yard intervals.

Mr Alexandru Gorovei of College Street, Lampeter

The court heard that on 19/03/2022 at Ceredigion Gorovei drove a motor vehicle, on a restricted road, namely B4337 Cribyn Ceredigion , at a speed exceeding 30 miles per hour Contrary to sections 81(1) and 89(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and Schedule 2 to the Road Traffic Offenders Act 1988.
